Dr. Benjamin Teller is an experienced optometrist with nearly three decades of dedication to patient care, clinical leadership, and education. He earned his Doctor of Optometry and Bachelor of Science degrees from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry after completing his undergraduate studies in biology and geography at the University of Delaware.
Dr. Teller has served in a variety of leadership and clinical roles throughout his career. He was a founding partner at EyeRx PLLC, Medical Director at McTigue Ophthalmology, and a longtime partner in Primary Eye Care at Eye Doctors of Washington. In addition, he has contributed his expertise as an on-call optometrist at Kaiser Permanente and as a consultant with LCA Vision. His leadership and vision have helped shape patient-centered practices across the Washington, D.C. region.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Teller is deeply committed to advancing the field of optometry. He has taught and mentored future optometrists through externship programs at both the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and the New England College of Optometry. From 2019 to 2023, he was appointed to the National Advisory Eye Council (NIH), contributing to national discussions on eye health and research priorities.
Dr. Teller has published and lectured on topics ranging from ocular surface disease to advances in contact lens technology. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association, PERC Vision Group, and SLS, and has served as Vice President and President of the Optometric Society of D.C. His dedication has been recognized with honors such as the Bausch & Lomb Student Leadership Award and inclusion in America’s Best Optometrists since 2008.
Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Teller values making eye care accessible and approachable for a diverse patient community. His philosophy of care combines advanced clinical expertise with a compassionate, patient-first approach, ensuring that every patient feels confident about their vision and eye health.
